Join us for a two-day boot camp for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Home Energy Score program. Assess your first home with a mentor to become a qualified Home Energy Score Assessor.

Home Energy Score is a great way to enhance your business. By becoming a Home Energy Score Assessor, you can give your clients reliable home energy information to help them save money on energy costs and live more comfortably in their homes.

Course Details

Day 1

The classroom computer training will prepare you to pass the DOE online simulation testing, required for Home Energy Score. The day starts with a simulation tutorial and you’ll complete various test house scenarios. The trainer will also provide tips and tricks to help complete the training and testing.

Day 2

You’ll continue with simulation practice training to reinforce what you learned. In the afternoon, a program mentor will accompany you on your first Home Energy Score Assessment. This will take from two to four hours and will count towards the program mentoring requirements. Once you complete the Assessment, submit all required documentation and run the ‘Mentor’ Score. You’re now a qualified Home Energy Score Assessor!


Torsten Glidden - Senior Technical Manager, Policy and Technical Innovation Team

As Senior Technical Manager on the Policy and Technical Innovation Team, Torsten Glidden applies his talents in program design and implementation, analysis, and systems and resources development. He also draws on his on-site construction experience to help train and mentor contractors, raters, and BIG staff along the way. Torsten brings over 17 years of experience in research, analysis, construction and project management, with more than seven years of leadership experience in program management and implementation.
