Industrial Lighting Workshop

Overview

This newly updated class will cover best practices including assessment of general and specialized industrial space conditions, lighting quality and IES recommendations for industrial applications. Industrial codes, safety and environmental standards, and energy code considerations will be explored.   The course will introduce solutions using lighting technologies with an emphasis on LED sources and wrap up with a hands-on design exercise for lighting an industrial facility to provide participants a better understanding of the material. 

Objectives

  • Learn to recognize industrial lighting application requirements that produce environmentally friendly, energy-efficient code compliance designs.
  • Become familiar with specific light fixtures characteristics and options associated with industrial lighting.
  • Understand codes and standards for industrial lighting environments and industrial lighting trends and issues.
  • Participate in an 1-2 hour intensive design charrette exercise that will allow participants to practice their industrial lighting skills

Additional Details

Note: Participant should posses a basic understanding of lighting basics, luminaria lamps and controls. Some understanding of energy codes and lighting environmental issues is also helpful but not a prerequisite.
