Helix Water District Tour

Join your fellow GBN members on a tour of the Helix Water District Facilities – winner of SDG&E’s 2019 Energy Showcase Award for leadership in advancing energy efficiency and sustainability in the San Diego region. The Helix Water District distributes water to about 275,000 people, which is an energy-intensive process. To control energy costs and their impact on water rates, the Helix Water District has implemented many energy conservation strategies, including programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, LED lighting, window film, and a solar energy system.


  • 10:30 am - 11:00 am: Meet at Port of San Diego Administration Building and board bus to Helix Water District
  • 11:00 am - 1:00 pm: Tour of Helix Water District's Operations Facility and Treatment Plant
  • 1:00 pm- 1:30 pm: Return to Port of San Diego Administration Building

Additional Details

The Green Business Network will provide lunch and arrange transportation from the Port’s Administration Building to the Helix Water District’s Operation Center in La Mesa and Treatment Center in El Cajon.
